Protect Email messages with confidential mode -
CC has enabled "Protect Email messages with confidential mode" for IISER Bhopal community members.
By use of this option, IISER Bhopal users can protect sensitive information from unauthorized access using Confidential Mode. The recipient of email messages in confidential mode will not have the privilege to copy, forward, print, or download messages, including attachments.
Options - The email sender can use the following options in the Confidential Mode:
Expiration Date - The sender user can set an Expiration Date for the email message. After the expiration date, the email message will be deleted automatically from the inbox of the recipient.
Password - Sender users can set an SMS password to access email messages.
Revoke Access - The sender can revoke access to the sent message at any time. The access can also be renewed in the same way.
How to use -
Click Compose to draft an email message and enable the Confidential Mode option by clicking on the mentioned below corner option:
Set the desired option in Confidential Mode.
Revoke Access: Go to Sent items and find the email message that has been sent in Confidential Mode. There will be an option at the right corner to revoke the email message access.
However, confidential mode prevents the email message recipient from accidentally sharing an email. It does not prevent the recipient from taking screenshots or pictures of your messages and attachments.
2-Step Verification - An extra layer of security for the IISERB Email account
CC has enabled 2-Step Verification or two-factor authentication for IISERB email accounts. It will add an extra layer of security to your IISERB email account. By using it, a user can avoid login access to his/her IISERB email account if an unauthorized person has the password of his/her email account.
How it works -
(If two-factor authentication or 2-step Verification is enabled for your IISERB email account.)
Whenever you sign in to your IISERB email account.
You will receive a unique code on your phone through call, text, or on the authenticator app.
You can log in to your email account by using that specific code only.
-You may select or choose NOT to use 2-Step Verification for your desktop or individual machine/PC.
-If you log in through any other machine/PC or someone else tries to log in from elsewhere, authentication is required as mentioned in point no. 2.
How to enable 2-Step Verification for your IISERB email account -
Step -1: Sign into your IISERB email account.
Step -2: Click on the upper rightmost icon (right next to the bell icon). Go to Google Account.
Step -3: Click on Sign-in & Security. Go to the Password & sign-in method.
Step -4: Select 2-Step Verification and follow the steps to Turn it ON.
OR
Click on https://myaccount.google.com/security and follow the instructions from Step -3 onward.
